This photostory is about Scott Nurkin, a UNC – Chapel Hill alumnus and local artist. He now owns The Mural Shop and paints mural across the southeast. For a photojournalism class, I followed Scott as he completed a mural at the Ninth Street Bakery in Durham, NC.

On a rainy November day, Scott Nurkin, 38, is stuck inside at his desk. “Much of my work is weather-permitting. I can’t paint in the rain or below freezing so I have to do boring stuff like this.” The artist’s passion of literature and music is evident in his shop filled with books, records, and speakers.
